Terms and Conditions

We open rain or shine. We do not cancel the boot sale because of bad weather conditions so the pitch is provided by us even if it is raining. If you choose not to use your pitch we cannot provide you with a replacement.

Payment is for the registered vehicle to enter the site this Sunday. Please ensure you have registered the car you intend to bring. Any change of vehicle must be requested by email and can only be accepted subject to space being available. If you do not provide full car details at the time of booking we will reserve space for a standard small car (ie; Fiesta/Golf) We cannot offer our usual pitch guarantee if a larger car is brought without prior arrangement - though of course, in an emergency, we will do our best on the day to fit it in.

Payment is non refundable, but we do offer a limited transfer policy as a goodwill gesture. This allows bookings to be transferred to another week subject to the conditions below. Bookings become fixed at midday on Thursday and cannot be changed after that time. Bookings and payments made after midday on Wednesday are non refundable AND non transferable under any circumstances. After holidays we often launch bookings on Thursdays - in this case all bookings are fixed since our transfer time has already passed.

Nothing can be added to the pitch once the vehicle is onsite (further goods, people, vehicles etc.) Everyone/thing needs to be in the vehicle on arrival. Additional people arriving to 'help' will be charged the appropriate buyers entry fee if they are not inside the vehicle on arrival. If helpers bring along additional goods to sell they will be charged our walk in sellers fee instead.

A pitch is guaranteed to be held for you until at least 1pm. Regardless of your booked arrival time, we will hold a space for you until 1pm guaranteed.

You (and your vehicle, goods and rubbish) must vacate the premises by 5pm. We do not provide rubbish disposal facilities for sellers. If you have unwanted goods at the end of the day we ask that you take them home and put in your own bin or donate to charity. We often have a charity collection van at the boot who will gratefully receive any donations.

Transfers of pitches;
If you wish to transfer your pitch to another week, we need to be notified as soon as possible before noon on Thursday. You can click on the transfers tab on our website, reply to your confirmation email, or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Give us your order number along with the date you wish to transfer to. We always confirm pitch transfers via email. Please do not call or text to transfer your pitch. For a number of reasons we need to receive an email from the person (or email address related to the account) who booked the pitch.

We do not charge to transfer pitches but they may only be transferred once and the date you wish to transfer to (along with your order number) must be provided before midday on Thursday. We cannot, under any circumstances, accept transfer requests after midday on Thursday.

Please be aware that legally we do NOT have to offer a transfer policy. We offer transfers as a goodwill gesture and at our own expense, so we do have to enforce a cut off point. Please do not ask us to make a late transfer - despite our terms being very clear, customers are often offended when we refuse to accept a late transfer.

Regrettably we are unable to provide replacement pitches for customers delayed or unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances; road closures, broken down vehicles, illness, personal emergencies, inablity to hire a car, bad weather, bad traffic or any other events beyond our control. Booking a pitch at BatterseaBoot is a little like booking a theatre ticket: you don't get given a free ticket to another show just because you didn't make it to the one you booked. We sell and provide a guaranteed pitch. We cannot be held responsible if you fail to use it for reasons beyond our control. We cannot enter into discussion with customers asking for exceptions to be made.

The boot sale is held on a no smoking site. If you must smoke, please contain/collect your cigarette ends and dispose of them at home.

You may sell new or used goods. Below is a list of prohibited items;

No sales of food or drink to be consumed on the premises is allowed.

No sales of pornographic material, tobacco, alcohol, medicines or live animals is allowed.

Illegal or counterfeit goods will be confiscated and Trading Standards or the police may be notified.

No sales of fireworks, guns (including replica, de-activated, air etc) , knives or swords (this includes domestic, replica, decorative or collectable) are allowed.

Anyone found selling the above goods will be asked to remove them from sale and leave in our care until they are ready to leave the premises. If appropriate the police may be notified.

Gazebos may only be erected with permission. Please ask when you arrive onsite, we will do our best to place you somewhere with space for a gazebo. If it is raining, we guarantee we will provide enough space for any seller who wishes to bring a gazebo.

All unwanted goods MUST be taken with you when you leave, this includes boxes and bags. The boot sale is held in council owned school grounds and there are no provisions for rubbish disposal onsite. Please keep in mind that it is a criminal offence to dump rubbish.

The rest is common sense. If you've booked a pitch, we hope you have a good day and we apologise for the very fact that we have to have such detailed written terms as these in place. The vast majority of our customers think our terms are fair - we hope you do too. Thank you for taking the time to read them!
